The oh so cool home of a Swedish photographer

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Morning! This is the oh so cool home of talented Swedish wedding photographer Therese Winberg. Shot by Therese and styled by Anna Malmgren for Plaza Interiör, the space appeared on several blogs late last year and I missed it (I know, I think I was to busy enjoying my Christmas glögg!). It's such a fabulous home I thought I'd better share it in case you missed it too?! The space is the perfect blend of old and new and teeming with the latest design trends (hello geometric kitchen floor, scallop fronted dresser, grey marble surfaces..) . There is so much inspiration from this place I'm not sure where to start, but I'll certainly be pinning every picture!

What do you love most about this home?

Personally, I'd like Therese's bright coloured collection of sneakers!

Because it'd be rude not to:  here are some beautiful homes tours of other Swedish photographers: Jakob Nyland, Helena Blom, and Jonas Ingerstedt.  It's official: Swedish photographers have fabulous homes!

Have a lovely day!

A fantastic Stockholm apartment with a vintage touch

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

I could totally imagine myself padding around this beautiful one up one down Stockholm loft. Not only does it have beautiful bones but the owner, Louise, has decorated it impeccably too. It's a fairly small space but it's been cleverly organised to make the most of every inch:  the magazines stacked in the stairwell, the windowsill doubling up as a book shelf and the shower tucked under the stairs. It's actually for sale - I'd move in tomorrow, how about you?!

I love the scissor task lamp in the kitchen, I've been thinking about one of these as a reading lamp in my bedroom or in my sitting room - what do you think? I found a load of fantastic vintage scissor lamps here - but which one to choose?! I also spy the classic white Eames RAR too (15% off with MYSCAN).

Anything you love about this apartment?

I love this and this Stockholm apartment too.

Have a lovely day!

A beautiful converted barn

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Hello....nearly the weekend -yay! I promised a surprise today but unfortunately it won't be ready until tomorrow, I'm really sorry! I hope the inspiration from this beautiful house makes it up to you until the project's ready. This converted barn appeared on the Swedish TV show Hustoppen last year and appeared on the lovely Purple Area (a fellow Skåne blog) today. I'm in love with the white wood paneling and beams, concrete floor, little nooks, vintage furniture and linen covered sofas. How about you?

Have a lovely Thursday and see you tomorrow for the surprise....

Home tour: Anne Louise Breiner

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

I've gone stylist Rikke Graff Juel crazy this week. Yesterday we took a peek at Anne Mette Jensen Skodborg's lovely home. And today I'd like to show you the Copenhagen apartment of Anne Louise Breiner of BALlab which has also been styled by Rikke. There's just so much inspiration to be taken from this space from the artwork and mismatched chairs around the dining table to the flea market / mid century finds and pretty spring flowers. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Stylist: Rikke Graff Juel. With kind permission from photographer: Frederrike Heiberg via Ellens Album with kind permission from Anne Louise Briener

Tricky to actually choose a favourite room (perhaps the bedroom?) and hard to believe this is all aqueezed into 90 metres of space! It makes think I need to start rummaging around the local flea markets more (and pay a visit to the local flower shop!).

PS Grand prix chair envy!

A vintage inspired Brussels home

Monday, February 25, 2013

Hello! I'm back! Thank you so much to Dagny and Marianne for covering me while I was away. I have to say I'm feeling more than a little sorry for myself as I'm STILL ill. I'm sitting here tapping away in my (very cosy) white company slippers and chunky knit cardigan and a big cup of tea (I do love to take these things seriously). And as ever I'm cheered up by a beautiful home! This particular space with all it's vintage and mid century furniture belongs to a talented family in Brussels and was photographed by Louise Desrosiers for milk magazine.

The floor has to be the clear winner here. You can just envision someone totally uncool walking in and saying 'OK, the first thing we need is a new floor here' but not this cool Brussels family, they've completely embraced it and it looks fantastic! there's always the reclaimed flooring company for the rest of us!

There are a few more lovely pictures of this home over at Milk magazine, and a full article if you speak French (or if you're like me with errr French hardly a strong point there's always google translate).

Right. Time to get back under my duvet. Have a lovely Monday!

Home tour: white and vintage in Gothenburg

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

This Gothenburg apartment currently for sale though Stadshem, has just the right mix - beautiful white wood panelled walls and floors, mid century furniture and cute vintage finds. What a fun place to live, Gothenburg anyone?!

Get the look? Auction site Lauritz is always a great source for Scandinavian mid-century finds (trust me, I've spent hours on there!). You can buy Tulip dining chairs at nest. Get hold of the cute doggy 'Tillsammans' posters behind the bed here. Vintage finds...hmmm, lots of hours scouring around car boot sales, flea markets, charity shops...and there's always wonderful Etsy, have you got any great tips?

Have a lovely day!

Copenhagen: White, light grey and dusty peach

Monday, December 17, 2012

This Danish home is breathtaking! The large rooms are furnished with the perfect blend of danish design classics and vintage finds and the white, pale grey and dusty tone of peach in the bedroom is beyond beautiful. The roaring fire adds just enough warmth to make it the perfect home for Christmas. Well done Elle Decoration UK for publishing such an inspired space, this is why you are my favourite interior design magazine!

Your kind of home?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend? We went to a lovely christmas market in Malmö where we ate crepes with chocolate, picked up some locally made design items and drank mulled wine, Mmmmm. (More Christmas inspiration on my board over at Pinterest, my second home:).

PS Thank you all for your lovely comments about my home office on Friday :)

PPS I am sad that I'm unable to credit the photographer and stylist - can anyone provide these important details so I can include them in the post?

A beautiful Danish family cabin

Monday, November 19, 2012

Hej hej! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Sometimes to be a family you need to get away from it all and just, well, be. This beautiful Danish home, North of Copenhagen allows for exactly this with it's open planning living space catering for all ages; a swing (I'm all for indoor swings for very little ones), the vintage tolix chairs,  a cosy sitting room corner and dining space. It's the perfect cabin for a family to just hang out and relax and it's where I wish I was this Monday morning!

Do you live in a home like this? Or how do you live? I'm always looking for new homes to show on my blog so please do send me photographs and any tips you have.

It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Southern Sweden, sunny but cold, don't you find these can be the best days of all? Have a lovely day!
